Jonathan Hale

Designer / Photographer

Jonathan’s design style was formed by years of looking through a camera viewfinder as a photographer, shooting subjects from fashion to architecture. His work has appeared in publications including Travel & Leisure, Glamour, Mode, I.D, and Seventeen. While he still keeps up with photography, Jonathan decided in 2001 to begin a career in design focusing on furniture.
He was soon commissioned by designers and architects he worked with to make pieces for their clients. His first commercial work was sold in the Ralph Lauren showroom in the Designers and Decorators building in New York City.
Jonathan’s work maintains simple modernistic minimal lines and values. While the functionality of the pieces are important, equal importance is placed on the visual artistry they present.
Jonathan and his family now live in Brooklyn, NY.

Piet Houtenbos

Piet began his career at Modernlink, one of Manhattan’s premier purveyors of mid-century modern masterpieces. It was there, designing the award-winning Onelink collection, that he developed his understanding of proportion, and the ideals of modern design.
His motivation lies in finding the inevitability of each design, that is, to unearth beauty and purity in the solution of a problem in a way that becomes immediately relatable to anybody. His work often encapsulates a moment or aesthetic idea from the past but presents it in a modern context.
Piet’s work has received much critical acclaim, and has found its way into the homes of fashion, photo, and film icons, as well as legendary architecture and design curators.
Piet received his BFA in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2001. He currently lives and works in New York City, where he was born and raised by Dutch parents.

Christopher Lipton

Beginning with an education in music was an unconventional entry into design. Christopher studied Jazz Performance and Composition at The New School for Social Research in NYC. His interest in music has been a major influence in his approach to shapes, color, form, function and the improvisation of a design; the movement of a piece. “It’s quite similar to a musical composition.”
Growing up in Brooklyn has proven to be an influence in Christopher’s approach to Form and Function. Gaining hands on experience while working for Luther’s and designers, his exposure to the use of materials and finishes makes him a practical designer. Throughout Christopher’s design process he is influenced by both his practical experience and his background in music. These elements coupled with an enthusiastic demeanor to constantly explore new ideas makes for a unique style.
Christopher founded Creative Leaves, Inc. in 2014. Currently they are in the prototype stage of the company and will be launching their Furniture and Product lines Spring 2016.

His first project was to design and build the towns golf course club house. After returning to Brooklyn Erik honed his design and fabrication skills working at City Joinery. Erik’s designs straddle a line between contemporary and traditional. His work pays tribute to early 19th century pieces, while giving them an updated modern design aesthetic.
